Finally, we create our Email and send it to our list in the Email Queue.
Though straight forward, numerous errors can occur so make sure you have selected what you really what.
Type of email:Text or HTML. If you are going to use Graphics, make sure you select HTML. The most common error is to have Graphics locally and never upload them to the server with the correct links which means the Email goes out without any graphics. Usually before building up my email queue I like to send a test version of the email to myself to validate appearance, links, etc.
Web Profile: Because Order Portal has multiple instances it is important to select the correct profile for the generated Email Queue. If the selected contacts are expecting information on Sales Portal and get an email from the Order Portal site, they could be confused, disappointed, never open the email, or flag it as spam, opt out, etc. The Profile and the Email Queue need to be correct and relevant.
The last common mistake is to be using both the Subscriber List and the Email Queue at the same time and forget to switch via the bottom check box. Then the email could be sent to the wrong group.Remember the Email Queue is the list you have been build via selections and imports. Subscriber list is EVERYONE who signed up for emails and have not opted out or been flagged as NO.
Options allow for mistakes. Take a second before you send, review your selected options versus your intended results. It saves time. Also think about my suggestion on sending yourself a test email.
Email marketing is very effective when sent to intentional contacts with relevant information to them and the quality meets their expectations.
Otherwise, it is often viewed as Spam and in the best case will lose you prospects and customers with these Interruptions and in the worst case put you in violation of the law and get you on ISP's black lists. Remember that the ISP's do not have to deliver your emails.
Think about all the emails you receive daily and what makes you open and read some of them. Targeted emails with relevant content to users who have an interest can be highly effective.
